Adian is a new App.net client that was released a few days ago and is (so far) the best client app available on the App Store.
The name is a clever pun of the current nickname for App.net (app. dot. net. = A. D. N.) and even when the service changes its name, the name of this app will serve as a reminder of where the service has been.
The developer, Chad Etzel (@jazzychad), has been in my user list since the very beginning. Given that we are both early users of ADN (he's user 171 and I'm user 213), I have the advantage of knowing a lot of the origins of the private jokes buried within the app.
For instance, in the pull-to-refresh text, it says "_xyx_pau: Never forget". This is a reference to the original page that was put up by Dalton Caldwell to prove that the ADN API was "real", even before there was such a thing as alpha.app.net.

There are a lot of nice touches in Adian and after seeing the polish of this version (v1.0.20), it speaks well of future updates. The app includes the ability to re-post (similar to the Twitter "re-tweet"), elegantly handles replies, provides threaded conversations, includes an embedded browser and provides integration with Pinboard, Instapaper, Pocket and others. In fact, the app provides a lot of ways to shuffle data into and out of the application -- email, copy, "open in Safari" and SMS.
There are still some features that would be nice to have, but Etzel has already stated that a new version is under development. My personal wish list is for a timeline search, gap detection (with clear demarcation and the ability to fetch the missing posts (see Tweetbot as the example of the perfect way to handle this!)), the ability to bookmark your last post, lazy/forced reloading of the feed when you get to the bottom of the page (like Instagram, Tweetbot, etc).
But all of these things are just icing on the cake. After using Adian for a day or two, it's a relief to see that these features weren't the deal-breakers I thought they'd be. So far, I've really been enjoying the app. It's worth the current price of $4.99 and it's a great addition to the ADN ecosphere. I'm looking forward to see what @jazzychad comes up with next.
